Bengal Tiger Population Demography and Genetic Connectivity

Nepal,  2009--2014

This project used camera trapping and sign surveys in and around Chitwan National Park to determine Tiger, Leopard, and prey distribution and density. We also conducted large-scale scat sampling across the 1000 km long Terai Arc Landscape in the lesser-known, and often ignored, Churia Hills habitat (i.e. “the forgotten TigerLand”). We determined genetic diversity and connectivity of Tigers and Leopards across the Terai Arc. See the Nepal Tiger Genome Project and follow Kanchan Thapa on Twitter for more information on our work.
